The effective development and education of teachers is central to the enterprise of education. Teacher Education is currently viewed as a key educational priority issue at the European Union level, requiring attention and further development as part of a broad approach to the raising of educational standards internationally. However, there is, as yet, no easy way for those interested in the subject -- policy makers, teacher educators, other academic researchers, serving teachers and student teachers -- to access the wealth of already-published material, in the form of journal articles and book chapters, on teacher education. This five-volume collection will remedy this situation.
The volumes mainly focus on the Ango-phone world (US, UK, Australia and Canada), with some reference also to Europe. The historical scope of the collection would be the sixty-year post-Second World War period, 1945-2005, with greater weight given to material from 1975 to the present day.
