This integrative systems approach will revolutionize the practice of medicine in the new century, enabling the delivery of healthcare to patients anywhere in the world by combining bio-sensing and information technologies with medical expertise. It will facilitate the transition from "central" and "hospital-based" medical diagnosis and healthcare delivery to "distributed" diagnosis and "home" healthcare. In other words, the existing medical systems are constantly being modified to fit particular circumstances and to solve specific problems such as home-based diagnosis and healthcare.
